1860 Wall Maps of Niagara County Reprinted
The Niagara County Genealogical Society has made available the reprint of a very rare wall map of Niagara County. The original map has been out of print for over 100 years. In 1996, the NCGS began their reprinting effort with the reprinting of 12 individual maps that comprised the villages and hamlets of Niagara County in 1860.
Niagara County Research & Look-Ups
The NCGS Look-Up program is a service and benefit of membership. All people using this service must be members. As of 2004 each $15 annual membership entitles you to one free 30-minute Look-Up in the holdings of the NCGS Library OR an Obit Look-Up at the Niagara Falls or Lockport Public Library. After the free annual Look-Up, these services can be purchased for nominal fees.
Genealogy Manuscripts for WNY
On the shelves of the Niagara County Genealogical Society Library are many unpublished genealogies and manuscripts with limited availability to the general public. Generally they represent the research of local Western New Yorkers who have graciously donated their materials to us. This is a partial list of those genealogies and family histories. If a title interests you, might we suggest you make use of the Look-Up benefit available with Society membership which will allow our volunteer staff to do some research on your behalf in the resource of your choice.
Membership in the Niagara County Genealogical Society
Members of the NCGS can enjoy many benefits such as a quarterly newsletter with genealogical material and records relating to Niagara County. Members can also use a Genealogical Look-Up service to find records or obituaries. A surname exchange project is also available for members to network and compile lineages. Members can also be involved in Society meetings that have covered areas such as computer & genealogy, ethnic groups and local families.
